I am currently retired from the teaching profession. I have taught at all levels from pre-school to college in both high poverty and high wealth populations. I began my career in a rurual district and completed it working in mostly high poverty inner-city schools. I have taught in all subject areas except language. Which will probably become painfully obvious as you read on (see I just ended that sentence fragment with a preposition- I think). Most of my career has been spent working in the areas of math, science and gifted and talented education.
I am not very politically correct and I value clarity over form, honesty over perception and product over theory. I am old, fat and bald with fake joints, bad eyes and hearing aids but I believe that my brain is still at least marginally functional(Im not putting my self down – see previous sentence). I believe that every kid has a story that a teacher must read, understand and learn from to teach them properly, I hope to share with you some of the stories and learning that I have experienced over 40 years of teaching.
