He Was Homophonic

While working with words and homophones using the book “The Dove Dove”. I asked a group of second grade students what a homophone was. The answer from one student was clear and concise. “A homophone is what old people, who don’t have a cell phone, use to make phone calls.”  In response to my blank look he added, ” you know the phones that are attached to the wall with a wire.”

The logic took a while but finally penetrated my old brain and I realized that he was talking about a phone that “old people,” meaning me I suppose, use at home, i.e. a “home-a-phone.”

Almost every buddy has won they just can’t bare to talk about it two much.

About safrisri

I have been a teacher since 1971 and have taught at all educational levels from pre-school to college. My college degree is general science which I arrived at after 5 years and 5 different majors. A degree as it turns out, almost as valuable and in demand as one in Neo-Bulgarian Mythology. I have been around education for around 40 years and can remember when teaching was a pleasant, happy and creative job and our schools were the same. My writings will reflect on my past mistakes and successes and what my students have taught me about education.
