After watching some of the commercials and the half time show during the Super Bowl I wonder if anyone can still arguably question if it is our schools or our society that are falling apart. Terribly, of the millions of children who watched this at times openly egregious and apparently proud display of sex, poor taste, and sexual innuendo, nearly none saw anything that was out of the ordinary on TV or in our society. Our children are great observers of us and through our tacit support of these commercials we teach a lesson. A lesson that most of us did not intend.
In reality we would all probably be better off it they had tied most of the products and actors/actresses in the commercials to the prop of an outboard motor and turned it on to see if they, like a Timex, “Could take a licking and keep on ticking.” However as I read this again I realize that an ad executive might take that simple phrase and make it into something else
There was one refreshing thing however, it was nice to see that for once the athletes on the field on both teams for the large part were the class act of the whole night.
