Memories

As I watched the national news , the political ads and the handwringing and political posturing over the  continuing strife in the Middle East I remembered two works  that are over 35 years old. but seem to be perfect for our current world and political situation.  One is from a movie called Network from 1976 and the other is a  Kingston Trio song, “The Merry Minuet,”  from 1962.

It seems that the more things change the more they stay the same.  Our world doesn’t seem to have solved any of the problems referred to in these clips …. I don’t know whether anger, as suggested by Network or  acceptance, as suggested by the Kingston Trio  is the correct path.

I seem to go back and forth between the two.

About safrisri

I was a school teacher until retirement. I have taught at all educational levels from pre-school to college. My college degree is general science which I arrived at after 5 years and 5 different majors. A degree as it turns out, almost as valuable and in demand as one in Neo-Bulgarian Mythology. I have been around education for around 40 years and can remember when teaching was a pleasant, happy and creative job and our schools were the same. Now I'm the guy sitting on the porch with an opinion on everything.
