Candidates – As Advertised on TV

Last night while watching yet another bundle of conflicting political ads another debate idea popped into the vacuum inside my brain being caused by the ads.   In a follow-up to yesterday’s ”  Presidential Debate Improvement Plan , ” I would add a 12th idea.

Five questions for each candidate asking them to defend or explain the most egregious of their television ad claims.

The opening remarks for each candidate in the debate would be delivered via a montage video of  5 of the most egregious ads from each candidate or PACs that are supporting them.  The ads would run while both candidates stood on stage and watched them. This would then be followed by questions concerning the ads.

First question for Romney might be, ” tell us how you came up with the  Obama is  stealing 700+ billion dollars from Medicare number,”  and the first question for Obama might be, “Tell us how Romney is going to charge every senior $6,400 more  for medicare. ”

Possible questions abound and the answers  given by the candidates might speak directly to the question of honesty and fairness that most of us value highly.    And along the way perhaps elucidate how the candidates look compared to the old saw that says , ”  What are you willing to do to get something, when you want it too much.

Actually just having the candidates having to face the contents of an ad on camera in person might give you a lot of information about the candidate. Sort of like talking in person instead of via e-mal  ( no I didn’t mis-spell it)

About safrisri

I was a school teacher until retirement. I have taught at all educational levels from pre-school to college. My college degree is general science which I arrived at after 5 years and 5 different majors. A degree as it turns out, almost as valuable and in demand as one in Neo-Bulgarian Mythology. I have been around education for around 40 years and can remember when teaching was a pleasant, happy and creative job and our schools were the same. Now I'm the guy sitting on the porch with an opinion on everything.
