Syrian Bait and Switch, Death is Still Death

Is it possible that Syria has just pulled off one of the biggest and best bait and switch deals in the history of the World? Has anyone else noticed that we have spent the last three weeks deal making over the probability that chemical weapons were used by the Syrian government? All the time trading words and threats  back and forth in nearly all the media while on the ground the killing just keeps going on by conventional weapons.

Conventional weapons are  now  tacitly okayed as being relatively “good” ways of killing people because only chemical weapons are forbidden.  Meanwhile the killing continues with no one apparently watching, reporting or caring because ” good ” weapons are being used and the World has become infatuated with “talking” about the use of chemical weapons.

Was the use of chemical weapons a death-dealing dangerous calculated risk by the Syrians to gain time and less visibility for their conventional forces or to simply make the actions of their conventional forces seem more acceptable?  Everything is relative, except to those who are dying  which is an absolute,  death is still death no matter how it occurs.

I wonder am I becoming cynical beyond words to even think that this has possibly happened?

About safrisri

I have been a teacher since 1971 and have taught at all educational levels from pre-school to college. My college degree is general science which I arrived at after 5 years and 5 different majors. A degree as it turns out, almost as valuable and in demand as one in Neo-Bulgarian Mythology. I have been around education for around 40 years and can remember when teaching was a pleasant, happy and creative job and our schools were the same. My writings will reflect on my past mistakes and successes and what my students have taught me about education.

In the world of national and international politics, death means little unless it can be utilized to facilitate someone or something in achieving their goals.
