California Shootings

Two things bother me about all the prognostication about the California shootings. First, it amazes me how many different groups are aggressively attempting to selectively use the facts to support their own political/social agenda. Second, all of the finger pointing and blame placing fails to note one important variable. That variable is, that shootings like this didn’t seem to happen 50 or a 100 years ago. In order for all of the different analyses and finger pointing to make logical sense they have to explain why that is true, and so far, from what I have seen, no one is willing or able to make that explanation and it may be because the answer is so politically incorrect, counter-intuitive or painfully descriptive of American society that no one dare utter it.

About safrisri

I was a school teacher until retirement. I have taught at all educational levels from pre-school to college. My college degree is general science which I arrived at after 5 years and 5 different majors. A degree as it turns out, almost as valuable and in demand as one in Neo-Bulgarian Mythology. I have been around education for around 40 years and can remember when teaching was a pleasant, happy and creative job and our schools were the same. Now I'm the guy sitting on the porch with an opinion on everything.

One Response to California Shootings

Why do you think these types of shootings didn’t happen 50 or 100 years ago?

Was it because it was easier to get a mentally ill person committed to a hospital? Was it because parents disciplined their kids more instead of enabling self centered behavior?

Or do you think gun control laws 50 years ago where better?
