Saw some Facebook posts this morning about Democrats and paying back Republicans on presidential nominees. How the party was going to obstruct and slow all nominees. Strangely highly partisan websites from both parties manage to agree this is going to happen.
So when does the cycle stop, every bit of payback and obstruction brings us one more step closer to total governmental paralysis. Which party is going to stop the madness that they themselves have created. One party has to be brave enough or conscientious enough to put the good of the country ahead of revenge/payback/ and the I dont agree with every thing you’ve done so everything you have done is bad mantra.
This started far before Obama.. don’t place the blame there.
People change, people accept compromise while our politicians only seem to understand their political base and how not to anger it This is not a football game the consequences are real and it just doesn’t matter if you make the all-star team your contribution to the effort towards our country, no matter how small is important. . Accept where you are and go forward not’ spending all your time pulling others back.
Trust the American People again, they made a decision , with which you may not agree, and which you cannot understand but we’re in the same boat baby and we all need to pay attention to our own oar to avoid going in circles. We should not, to use an old phrase , ” Throw the baby out with the bath water.”
Start watching your words to see if you always end a positive statement about the opposition with “but,” if so you are part of the problem not part of the solution.
There is a reason why the courts have an “asked and answered” limitation, the parties need to stop flogging dead horses for their own political gain and their desire to warp the perceptions of the electorate.
Finally what I am is not what I was and I would guess that is true for a lot of us. Perhaps our past words and actions do not always translate well into our current words and actions.
While you castigate someone about their past words without considering their current actions you limit your understanding of the problem and narrow the range of solutions.
