Politisport

Grantland Rice was a sports writer but some of his words seem to apply to our just past election as well. Bold Italics are my new labels!

Political Parties:

The flame of the inn is dim tonight,
Too many vacant chairs.
The sun has lost too much of its light,
Too many songs have taken flight,
Too many ghosts on the stairs.

On the candidates:

“Eighteen holes of match play will teach you more about your foe than 18 years of dealing with him across a desk. ”

On the future:

“Failure isn’t bad if it doesn’t attack the heart. Success is all right if it doesn’t go to the head.”

On The electoral college:

” You are meant to play the ball as it lies.”

Elections in General:

“For when the One Great Scorer comes
To mark against your name,
He writes – not that you won or lost –
But HOW you played the Game.”

About safrisri

I was a school teacher until retirement. I have taught at all educational levels from pre-school to college. My college degree is general science which I arrived at after 5 years and 5 different majors. A degree as it turns out, almost as valuable and in demand as one in Neo-Bulgarian Mythology. I have been around education for around 40 years and can remember when teaching was a pleasant, happy and creative job and our schools were the same. Now I'm the guy sitting on the porch with an opinion on everything.
